Philadelphia, PA, April 20, 2020 – Rhoads Industries is a proud recipient of a 2020 PAsmart Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry (L&I). These are dedicated funds used to build a diverse talent pipeline into the building and construction trades. Created under Governor Wolf, this initiative is part of a broad statewide strategy to increase job training for workers and strengthen the Commonwealth’s workforce and economy.
Rhoads Industries, in partnership with Philadelphia Works and Derbyshire Machine and Tool Co., was awarded $194,273 to develop an innovative pre-apprenticeship career pipeline to address the staffing and talent development needs of small/medium sized manufacturing firms in the Philadelphia defense industrial base. This new model will outline expanding efforts of recruitment, onboarding and training requirements of diverse entry level job ready candidates.
At completion, Rhoads will have a certified pre-apprenticeship program for workers seeking a trade-driven career within the defense industry and prospective candidates to enter into Rhoads welding apprenticeship program.
