On December 14, 2023, Rhoads sponsored the NDIA Nuclear Submarine and Aircraft Carrier Conference. The event kicked off with a cocktail reception at Drexel University’s historic main building on December 13th. The main event took place at Drexel’s Creese Student Center and was sold out at 250 attendees. The Keynote Speaker was Carlos Del Torro, Secretary of the US Navy. Prior to the main event Secretary Del Torro was joined by Rick Siger, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development and their staffs in a closed-door meeting with Dan and Mike Rhoads to discuss future endeavors.
Rhoads plays a key role in the fabrication, assembly and outfitting of infrastructure ”rafts” for both the Virginia and Columbia class nuclear submarines. The company also assembles, in conjunction with Northrop Grumman, the enhanced propulsion systems for the Columbia Class sub program.
Now employing close to 400 workers, Rhoads expects to hire another 100-150 workers over the next year to meet the growing demand to support the Navy’s nuclear submarine programs and our nation’s defense effort.
