As of December 2010, Rhoads Marine Industries has applied to the US Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command for status as a Master Ship Repair Activity.  If granted, this status will allow Rhoads to perform repair work on US Navy Combat vessels, and will meet the requirements of numerous other DOD and commercial ship repair customers who require this certification as a pre-requisite to bid on repair contracts.

Also in November and December, 2010, Rhoads Marine Industries commenced its pier-side ship repair activity at Pier 5 at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia, executing three repair availabilities for customers requiring urgent repair work during the holiday periods.  Rhoads provides 24/7 365 repair services at both Pier 5 and through its “Down River” mobile ship repair and maintenance teams.

Rhoads Marine Industries is nearing the conclusion of an extensive re-commissioning process related to the re-opening of the Rhoads Shipyard Facility (Pier 5 and Dry Dock 2) in the Navy Yard, Philadelphia.  During the past year, Rhoads has invested heavily in the repair and re-furbishing of the Shipyard, including replacement or re-conditioning of all pumps, electrical and fire safety systems, portal cranes and railways, the renovation of all pier, dry dock, and lay-down areas, as well as the re-opening of all associated shop and office facilities.  When completed, the Shipyard Facility is expected to be returned to the equivalent of its operating capacity while a Navy Shipyard.
