LAYBERTH AND DRY DOCK SERVICES

Rhoads maintains two layberth piers with deep water access for short and long-term needs. The Piers have access to all the necessary utilities and equipment for supporting a full range of hull, mechanical and electrical ship repair projects. Both piers are more than 850 ft. in length and can accommodate even the largest vessels. Layberth services are available 24/7 and arrangements can be made on short notice, including potable water, shore power, provisioning, and crew transfer. Rhoads also features one of the largest, all-concrete and granite-faced graving docks in the U.S. which can support a wide variety of U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and MARAD vessels.

U.S. NAVY & Government work

As a result of Rhoads shipyard’s proximity to U.S. Navy facilities and activities, including Naval Sea Systems Command’s Surface Ship Engineering Station (NAVSSES) Division and the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility (NISMF), Rhoads has developed extensive experience with the dismantling of Ticonderoga Class Aegis Cruisers (CG’s) as well as O.H. Perry Class Guided Missile Frigates (FFG’s) through two major projects extending over four years. Through this work, Rhoads has supported important Navy initiatives, including supplying major replacement components to both U.S. Navy and allied nations operating U.S.-built warships, in particular, the Perry-class FFG’s.  Rhoads has also supported the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) dredging program for the Delaware River and Bay, supplying just-in-time repair services to the USACE Dredge McFarland, located just downriver from the Rhoads’ shipyard. All of Rhoads’ work for government customers has received high-ratings for quality and on-time performance.
